Obasute Rice Terraces
The beautiful terraced rice fields of Obasute in Nagano, which has been selected as one of the 100 best terraced rice fields in Japan. Selected as a “Traced Rice Terrace Heritage Certified Area” that connects Chikuma City and Zenkojidaira in Nagano City, it boasts outstanding beauty even in Japan.
Zenkoji Temple
Zenkoji Temple has a history of about 1,400 years since its foundation, with the principal image of the Ikko-Sanson Amida Nyorai. Especially in the Edo period (1603-1867), it is said that so many people visited Zenkoji that it was called “once in a lifetime visit to Zenkoji”. Snow Monkey Park
Snow Monkey Park (Jigokudani Yaen Park) is famous for the Japanese macaques that can be seen bathing in Onsen. They are nicknamed “snow monkeys” by people from all over the world.
Chikuma River
The Chikuma River is the longest river in Japan at 367 km in length. From Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano, it takes only a few minutes on foot to reach the banks of the Chikuma River, where you can easily enjoy walking and cycling. Every year in August, the Fireworks Festival is held, and 10,000 fireworks are shot off from the banks of the Chikuma River, beautifully coloring the night sky in summer.
Arato Castle Ruins
Arato Castle was built in the 16th century by the Yamada clan, a powerful local clan that ruled this area. The castle was later developed into a historic site park in 1995, and visitors can feel the atmosphere of a mountain castle of that time. Located on top of a mountain about 10 minutes by car from the property, the castle commands a panoramic view. It was used as a filming location for some historical drama.
